Decent value for monthly plan

I was looking for a budget-friendly meal plan and decided to try the Classic Plan for a month. I got a first-month discount which made it really affordable. The grocery lists helped me stick to my budget at the store. The recipes were simple enough and saved me from impulse buys. For the price I paid, it was definitely worth it.

Good Family Plan experience

I signed up for the Family Plan last month and it's been pretty helpful. Ordering the subscription was straightforward on their site; I just picked the plan and checked out. The weekly menus and grocery lists arrived on time every Monday morning, which was great for planning. I found the recipes generally easy to follow, and the ingredients were standard stuff I could get at my local grocery store. I did have a question about swapping a recipe out, and customer support got back to me within a few hours with clear instructions. The quality of the recipes themselves felt good, and my kids actually ate most of the meals without too much fuss, which is a win. The 'one hour prep' claim was mostly true for me, maybe a bit longer on some weeks if I was distracted, but still a big time saver overall.

Saved me from takeout

So I usually just order takeout, but decided to try the 30 Minute Meals plan to actually cook more. It was pretty chill. The grocery list came and it was easy to get everything. The recipes were simple enough, nothing too crazy. I actually cooked dinner most nights that week, which never happens. My kitchen looked a bit messy after, but hey, I made food! It felt good to eat at home for once.

Still using the service

I've been a member for about a year now, mostly on the Classic Plan, but I've tried the Vegetarian Plan too. This time, I got the annual membership during a seasonal promotion. The consistency is what keeps me coming back; the plans always arrive reliably, and the recipes are generally solid, making dinner time much less stressful. It's nice not to have to think about 'what's for dinner' every single day. I've seen some new recipes added over time, which keeps things fresh. It's just a dependable service.

Helps with meal prep

I got the Keto Plan subscription to help with my diet. The weekly menus and grocery lists are a big help for staying on track. Most of the recipes were pretty good and easy to make, though a couple were a bit bland for my taste. I wish there was an easier way to filter recipes by cook time or prep time within the weekly plan itself, instead of just seeing the main prep time estimate. Delivery of the plans is consistent and on time. It does save me mental energy during the week, so I'll probably keep it for a while.

Hey, thinking about trying this out. Are the recipes actually good? And how easy is it to swap stuff if my kids are picky eaters?

A Anthony Davis 2 weeks ago
Yeah, they're pretty decent! We've been using it for a few months. Most are fairly standard family meals, nothing super wild. You can customize the plans to swap out individual recipes, which is super helpful for picky eaters or if you just don't like something.

I find them pretty easy to follow, even for someone who's not a master chef lol. My little one is super picky but I just skip those recipes and pick another one from their library. Works for us!

do they ever do sales on the annual membership? trying to figure out if it's worth waiting for black friday or something like that.

R Robert Carter 2 weeks ago
Oh yeah, absolutely! They usually have pretty good Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, sometimes for new members or renewals. I'd definitely keep an eye out around those times or even holidays like New Year's.

They often do a good discount on the annual plan, especially if you catch one of their seasonal promotions. I got mine during a spring sale for a decent chunk off.

Is there a free trial for this service? Or like, a way to test it out before committing to a full month or year?

D Daniel T. 2 weeks ago
I think they usually have a discounted first month deal, sometimes even like 50% off. Not a free trial exactly, but close. Check their main page or sign up for the newsletter, those often have the best new member offers.

Yeah, I just got a pretty big discount for my first month, wasn't free but it was cheap enough to try it out without feeling too committed.

Anyone know how 5 Dinners compares to eMeals? I've been using eMeals for a while but always open to switching if something else is better.

A Andrew Davis 2 weeks ago
I used eMeals too before switching! I like 5 Dinners because the focus is really on that 1-hour prep time for 5 meals, which eMeals sometimes struggled with for me. The grocery lists are also super detailed and organized, which I appreciate.

I tried both. 5 Dinners felt more practical for my busy weeknights. The recipes are generally simpler, I think, and really designed for that batch cooking. eMeals had more variety sometimes but also more steps per recipe.

Can you actually get 5 meals prepped in an hour? That sounds a little too good to be true for someone like me who is not super fast in the kitchen.

S Sam 4 weeks ago
It depends on the week and your own kitchen skills, honestly. Some weeks, yeah, totally doable in an hour if you're focused. Other weeks, it might stretch to 1.5 hours. The key is really following their instructions and having everything ready to go beforehand.

I was skeptical too! It takes some practice, but with all the ingredients out and a good podcast on, I usually get pretty close to the hour mark. The grocery list is a lifesaver for making sure you have everything.
